الفَجۡرِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
◆
١
وَٱلْفَجْرِ١
By the dawn
٢
وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ٢
And [by] ten nights
٣
وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ٣
And [by] the even [number] and the odd
٤
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ٤
And [by] the night when it passes,
٥
هَلْ فِى ذَٲلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ٥
Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?
٦
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ٦
Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -
٧
إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ٧
[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,
٨
ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ٨
The likes of whom had never been created in the land?
٩
وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُواْ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ٩
And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?
١٠
وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ١٠
And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -
١١
ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْاْ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ١١
[All of] whom oppressed within the lands
١٢
فَأَكْثَرُواْ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ١٢
And increased therein the corruption.
١٣
فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ١٣
So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.
١٤
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ١٤
Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
١٥
فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ١٥
And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."
١٦
وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَـٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ١٦
But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."
١٧
كَلَّاۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ١٧
No! But you do not honor the orphan
١٨
وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ١٨
And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.
١٩
وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلاً لَّمًّا١٩
And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,
٢٠
وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا٢٠
And you love wealth with immense love.
٢١
كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا٢١
No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -
٢٢
وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا٢٢
And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,
٢٣
وَجِاْىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذِۭ بِجَهَنَّمَۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ٢٣
And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?
